Timmay!

I was born in a small town in the heart of Texas. My family moved to progressively larger cities (Waco, Austin, Dallas) before settling on a shady piece of land in the country. I attended Texas A&M University in my hometown of College Station.

I started out in the College of Architecture, but discovered an aptitude for math which led me to the Department of Mathematics, where I graduated. Along the way I spent countless hours in the library reading about computer science, graphics, and design. In my spare time I coded and freelanced as a designer and web developer.

After graduation, I took a job at Microsoft in the Expression group creating graphics tools for designers and developers.

Over the past decade, I've developed dozens of programs for fun and profit. My first real app was a 3D engine for DOS. That led to contracts for custom 3D graphics and web designs in the marketing departments at local companies. An entrepreneur friend had an idea for a tool for online gamers that I did the graphic design and developed a prototype for. The experience of writing the user interface code for that and some other apps motivated me to explore alternative ways to quickly develop rich user interfaces for desktop apps.

On the right side of the brain, I've also spent the past decade as a user of professional design tools. I started with Photoshop version 3. Then I dabbled in 3D graphics apps like Truespace, 3D Studio, and AutoCad. In college I used more esoteric specialized tools like Matlab, ER Mapper, and ArcView. As a developer / designer, I enjoy the craft of making useful tools for gifted designers to create their visions.
